Arts and Heritage Day in Olympia is Wednesday, February 6, 2019!

This is an exciting event that brings together arts, humanities, heritage and cultural leaders from across Washington state. It’s a great opportunity for advocates to meet with their legislators to thank them for their support of the arts and heritage community, bring attention to statewide arts and heritage issues and local concerns, and share specific stories and highlights of real projects in our communities, schools, and venues statewide. Your presence along with many other advocates from across the state gives legislators a better understanding of the importance of arts and heritage issues in our communities.

With newly elected legislators and the reshuffling of legislating positions, this is a particularly important year to join your peers in Olympia.

Arts & Heritage Day is hosted by Artist Trust, ArtsEd Washington, ArtsWA, Cultural Access Washington, Humanities Washington, Washington Museum Association, Washington State Historical Society, and Washington State Arts Alliance.

How can you meet people where they are in understanding the darker, powerful stories of our past and present? The curators of “Unlocking McNeil’s Past. The Prison, The Place, The People” will share their experience working on two case studies that informed the development of an exhibit that is thoughtful and honest. The workshop will include a work session for all participants.
